48,000 Fraudulent Warzone and Vanguard Accounts Banned

Tens of thousands of accounts Call of Duty Warzone and Vanguard cheating have been banned following the launch of a new anti-cheat system.

According to VCG, Activision conducted a big wave fraud crackdown and ban of Call of Duty on December 21. The company says that about 48,000 accounts with fraudulent behavior have been banned on Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone.

In August, Activision announced that it had implemented a permanent ban on over 500,000 cheaters on Warzone since the free-to-play shooter launched in March 2020. To further combat bad behavior in the game, the publisher introduced anti-cheat with ‘s kernel-level drivers’ Warzone globally last week.

Drivers were also released for Call of Duty: Vanguard at a later date, automatically installed with the update Warzone Pacific on Battle.net, and required to play the game on PC. . Its mechanism of action is granted high privileges on the player’s computer and can access all resources on the system while it is running.

Activision notes that cheaters have become more sophisticated and can now manipulate a game’s code without running within the game itself being exploited. This can make it impossible to detect with available anti-cheat methods. The new driver allows the game to monitor any other applications that may be running at the same time, helping Warzone’s anti-cheat team to figure out if players are using unauthorized processes to manipulate the game .

While the driver is required to run in order to play Warzone, Activision claims it will only run while the user is playing the game and will shut down as soon as they exit.
