5 interesting features coming to Windows 11

Microsoft has recently released the Moment 5 update for Windows 11, which includes some minor changes and new features. However, the upcoming 24H2 update, set to be released later this year, is expected to bring some noteworthy changes to the operating system. Although the complete list of new features for the Windows 11 24H2 version is not yet available, Microsoft has announced several updates that users should look out for.

One of the significant updates is the ability to use Android smartphones as wireless webcams. With this update, users can take advantage of their smartphone’s excellent cameras, which can produce better quality video than even expensive webcams. Additionally, users can access a dashboard with additional controls and information, such as connection status and battery level, to offer a seamless experience. This feature is currently available to all Windows Insiders with Link to Windows app version 1.24012 or later.

Furthermore, Microsoft is making its new AI assistant, Copilot, more capable of interacting with PC hardware. With Copilot, users can scan Wi-Fi networks, display device information, report battery levels, toggle battery saver, clean memory, take screenshots, and interact with accessibility features, among other things. This feature aims to make working with Windows 11 PCs much easier and more convenient for less experienced customers.

Another exciting feature coming to Windows 11 is a built-in QR code generator. The new update will enable users to generate QR codes when sharing links, making it easier to transfer websites from PC to phone without having to send links to their emails or wait for Microsoft Edge to synchronize their history.

The upcoming Windows 11 24H2 version will also include an expanded power-saving feature that will help to save battery life on laptops that use rechargeable batteries. Users can enable the power saver from the Settings app or the Quick Settings drop-down box, and a new leaf icon in the notification area will appear to notify the user that the system is operating at a lower performance level to save energy.

Finally, the lock screen in Windows 11 will soon display more useful information. In addition to the current weather widget, future updates will add many new widgets such as stocks, traffic, and sports match scores, which users can choose to benefit from or ignore. Microsoft is also expected to announce more features and artificial intelligence (AI) applications for its PC operating system at the Build 2024 Conference.
