5 things to know about the new MacBook Pro M2s

The new MacBook Pros represent a minor upgrade over previous models announced in October 2021 but still bring several notable new features and changes.

1. A new MagSafe cable

It may be a detail for you, but it is a long-time user expectation. Space Gray models of the new MacBook Pro now come with a Space Gray-colored MagSafe charging cable, unlike before. Previously, Space Gray models came with a silver MagSafe cable.

2. New standards

For the first time on a Mac, the updated MacBook Pro and Mac mini support Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 standards. These two new improvements will improve the reliability and performance of connections, especially in high-density areas.

3. Better HDMI

Along with the new chips, the new MacBook Pros also include an updated HDMI port that now supports the HDMI 2.1 standard. HDMI 2.1 will allow the MacBook Pro to run a display up to 8K resolution at 60Hz.

4. Remarkable battery life

With improved performance from the M2 Pro and M2 Max, the new 16-inch MacBook Pro delivers up to 22 hours of battery life, the longest battery life ever offered on a Mac.

5. A Memory Boost

Previous-generation MacBook Pros could only be configured with up to 64GB of Unified Memory. However, the new M2 Max chip allows customers to configure their MacBook Pro with up to 96 GB of RAM.

You can order your new machines directly from the Apple website. The updated MacBook Pro and Mac mini will begin shipping to customers on Tuesday, January 24.
