iPhone uses a Lightning for charging, which can be rotated both ways, so you can use either side of the cable. And from iPhone 8 and above, the device also supports wireless charging.

Here are 6 steps to handle in case your iPhone has an error when charging:

  1. iPhone that is too hot or too cold will affect the charging process, so make sure the device is at a temperature when charging, preferably within 32 degrees Celsius.
  2. Reversing the charging pin will sometimes help solve the problem.
  3. If the device still won’t charge, try a different cable and adapter.
  4. Check out the Lightning port. Use a magnifying glass to see better, if there are dust or foreign objects in the port, gently remove them.
  5. Does iPhone currently have wireless charging, usually it will only receive one charging line at the same time.
  6. Restart the device and plug in the charger for 30 minutes.

If your iPhone still won’t charge or become unresponsive after restarting, the problem is serious. Contact an authorized Apple service provider or contact Support.

If you notice your iPhone stops charging at 80%, this is a charging optimization feature that helps reduce battery aging. You can turn this off by going to Settings ( Settings ) > Battery > Battery Health and then turning off Optimized Battery Charging .
