On January 15, 2008, in his keynote speech, Steve Jobs introduced the MacBook Air and quickly changed the laptop industry.

According to Wccftech , since its launch, the MacBook Air has inspired the company’s competitors to raise the bar in their products, both in terms of quality and thinness.

Before the launch of the first MacBook Air, Apple had two portable Macs in its lineup, including the MacBook and the MacBook Pro . In his presentation, Steve Jobs described it as “the thinnest notebook in the world”. Soon after, he began comparing competing products based on their thickness and performance, starting with the Sony TZ series.

After providing the physical differences, Steve Jobs began unpacking the 13.3-inch MacBook Air out of the box, which had a full-size keyboard with white backlighting. What surprised the tech world was that the thinnest part of the competing Sony TZ laptop was still thicker than the thickest part of the MacBook Air.

The right side of the MacBook Air offers a single USB-A port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a micro-DVI port for attaching an external hard drive. The first MacBook Air also came with a dual-core Intel CPU, which did not affect the performance of the machine but caused thermal limitations due to the lack of thickness.

Now, the MacBook Air has undergone 15 years of development with the latest member being the MacBook Air M2 launched last year priced at $1,199, while the first MacBook Air sold for a rather expensive price of $1,799 and no more. SSD option is available. Meanwhile, Windows 11 laptop manufacturers have also achieved their goal of creating ultra-thin products, although in terms of build quality still can not match the MacBook Air. Recent rumors say that Apple is expected to launch the 15-inch MacBook Air later this year.
