In his latest report, famous analyst Ming-chi Kuo said that Apple will launch the folding iPad in 2024, before the time when the folding iPhone appears as in previous rumors.

According to BGR, Mr. Kuo said on Twitter that Anjie Technology will be the main beneficiary of the iPad this completely new design folding model. This is the company responsible for handling the supply of carbon fiber for folding tablets and other similar devices.

Mr. Kuo says carbon fiber will make the stand lighter and more durable. It’s unclear what the folding iPad will look like, but the carbon fiber kickstand seems to be built-in because that’s the only way a vendor like Anjie can benefit from the appearance of the folding iPad. Each folding iPad will have to have this component instead of the stand as an optional accessory. Of course, those are just speculations as Mr. Kuo did not provide further information on the design of the product.

According to Kuo, Apple is unlikely to launch any notable iPad models in the next 9-12 months. The all-new iPad mini version is likely to begin mass production in the first quarter of 2024, but it’s unclear if the folding iPad is related to the iPad mini. It is known that the folding iPad will give users two sizes to use, moving between the smallest and largest screen option.

Kuo further predicts that iPad sales will decline by 10% to 15% in 2023 when compared to last year, but the folding iPad will help boost sales and improve this product category of Apple.

Previously, a report said that Apple will bring OLED screen technology to the iPad, which is expected to happen as soon as next year. A folding tablet will need a folding OLED panel in the same way that Samsung offers on its folding phones.

Finally, Mr. Kuo did not mention the launch date or the price of the folding iPad model, but if Apple prepares to introduce it in 2024, related leaks will gradually appear.
