Latest Updates for WhatsApp’s Proxy Feature.

In order to enable more effective communications with privacy, WhatsApp has reportedly made significant upgrades to its Proxy feature.

As previously stated, as a result of recent updates, WhatsApp users can now exchange files, stickers, and more with their contacts when the Proxy feature is turned on.

WhatsApp hopes that by making this change, its users who are having communication problems because of censorship will have a better experience.

In areas with hazy internet freedom, WhatsApp has long been a target of blocking and censorship. Governments dislike WhatsApp because it comes with built-in encryption by default, allowing users to protect their communications from online snoopers. Using spyware (for a remote attacker) or physically accessing the target user’s device continues to be the only practical options available today.

As a result, oppressive authorities simply think about completely blocking WhatsApp as a workaround to access people’s communications.

A dedicated Proxy feature for WhatsApp was introduced in January of this year to address this problem. This function allowed users to keep using WhatsApp even after being blocked. Users of the app can access proxy servers that have been set up by organizations and helpful volunteers. Users can also set up their own proxy servers through the service to enable unrestricted connections for other users.

By configuring a “chat port” for text messages and a “media port” for image sharing, the feature already supported private communications. They can now send and receive voice messages, files, stickers, and GIFs thanks to a recent upgrade.

WhatsApp has also made the process of setting up a proxy easier, enabling users to share workable proxies quickly.

In order to allow users to continue communicating with a few hiccups, WhatsApp has now joined Telegram and signal in supporting proxy configuration.
