A recent upgrade from YouTube will allow users to search for a song just by humming its tune.
The melody of the song will be the first thing users remember, then the lyrics. So if you just remember the melody, it can often be difficult to find the right song you like. YouTube now wants to change this, the platform now has a feature that allows users to hum a tune they remember so they can find the song they’ve heard.
Google has announced the testing of a hum-to-search feature that will be available on YouTube. In addition to humming to search for songs, users can also record a song for this video platform to recognize.
Voice Search feature To use it, users need to turn on YouTube to search for songs. Next, to find, users need to sing or record the song for at least 3 seconds. When a song is detected, users will be directed to related content on Google’s largest video platform
And since it’s in beta, this feature is currently only available to a limited number of YouTube users on the Android operating system. Google said it is expanding the test to more audiences, and will continuously improve and change accordingly.
At the same time, Google also introduced a feature called Channel Shelf. When a content creator you follow uploads a video to YouTube, the video is automatically added to the shelf. Users won’t have to go through that creator’s channel to search for a video anymore.
This YouTube feature is supposed to help users save more time without being distracted by searching for content from registered creators, but still quickly follow the latest videos.
