Recent reports suggest that Samsung has withdrawn from the negotiation process to supply OLED screens for the upcoming iPhone SE 4 after Apple offered a price of $25 per panel instead of Samsung’s desired price of $30. The iPhone SE 4 has been the subject of several leaks, with rumors suggesting significant upgrades compared to its predecessors. It is expected to adopt the design features of the iPhone 14, including a 6.1-inch LTPS OLED screen with a 60 Hz refresh rate and a single camera setup on the back.
As Apple seeks a source of OLED screens for the iPhone SE 4 in the mid-range segment, it is now turning to Chinese manufacturers to meet its screen production needs. This move comes after Samsung’s withdrawal from the race to supply OLED panels. Apple’s focus on saving costs for the low-cost iPhone SE line is understandable, as the screen is one of the most expensive smartphone components.
The iPhone SE 4 is also rumored to offer Face ID, an improved 48 MP rear camera, and a faster chip. However, a change in display supplier may affect production schedules or the final retail price of the device. Apple is said to be preparing about 15 million iPhone SE 4 units when it launches in 2025.
