The latest iOS 17.4 update for iPhone 12 has brought in several new features, and among them is a significant upgrade to the magnetic charging feature, which can now help charge the device twice as fast as before. According to a report from Macworld, this has been made possible by upgrading the magnetic charging feature to the Qi2 standard, which was previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 series.
Thanks to iOS 17.2, the fast charging speed on all iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models was also improved, and the same has been done for the first iPhone that supports MagSafe magnetic charging. With the Qi2 standard, users can now wirelessly charge their iPhone 12 or later at speeds of up to 15W, even if the device is incompatible with MagSafe.
To make use of this faster charging capability, users need to ensure that they have updated their iPhone 12 to iOS 17.4 and have a wireless charger that supports Qi2. Several wireless charger accessories that support the Qi2 standard are available in the market, such as Belkin’s 3-in-1 charging dock and BoostChargePro, which provides MagSafe wireless charging at speeds of up to 15W.
Anker also has a range of power banks that support Qi2 wireless charging, including the MagGo Power Bank, which has a capacity of up to 10,000 mAh and is priced at $89.99. With Qi2 wireless charging capabilities, iPhone 12 or later can now be charged more quickly than ever, provided users have updated their device to iOS 17.4 and have a compatible wireless charger.
