According to 9to5Mac, iPhones running iOS 17 will receive the update to iOS 18 when it is released later this year. This means that all iPhone models from iPhone 15 to iPhone SE 3, including the iPhone 16 series, will be eligible for the update. However, iPadOS 18 will not be supported on the iPad 6th generation, iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2nd generation, and iPad Pro 10.5-inch 2nd generation. The iPad tablets that are eligible for the update include iPad 2019 and later, iPad mini 2019 and later, iPad Air 2019 and later, and iPad Pro 2018 and later. It’s important to note that even though the A10X Fusion chip used in the 2nd generation iPad Pro models is more advanced than the A10 Fusion chip used in the 7th generation iPad, Apple will end support for the former while continuing to support the latter. iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 will be unveiled during Apple’s WWDC 2024 on June 10 and will be released in September, along with the iPhone 16 series. iOS 18 is expected to bring new AI-powered features to Siri and the App Store.
