The Android operating system is designed to provide users with strong protection against malicious and suspicious applications. Despite this, some of these apps may still pass through the security layers. However, with the upcoming Android 15 update, Google is reportedly planning to introduce a new feature called “Quarantine Apps” to provide more comprehensive protection to users.
As per a report by XDA Developers, Android 15 may soon come with a new feature that can quarantine suspicious applications from the system, thereby blocking their ability to operate and eliminating any potential risks to users. Quarantining an app is similar to pausing it, but with stricter restrictions to ensure user safety. When an app is “quarantined”, it will remain visible on the home screen and in the device’s settings, but its functionality will be limited. For example, it won’t show notifications, ring the device, or link to other apps or the system.
Users can easily identify which applications are being quarantined through a special warning icon. Although Google has not yet announced a specific release date for the Quarantine Apps feature, it is expected to be included in the Android 15 update, which should be released in the next few months.
