Apple’s visionOS 2 mixed reality viewer for the Apple Vision Pro significantly improves user experience, interaction, and productivity. Some key features include new gestures, a customizable Home screen, support for HealthKit, new virtualization environments for the Mac display, an environment called Bora Bora, AirPlay reception, and more. Additionally, visionOS 2 introduces a range of new APIs that enhance the versatility of the mixed reality system for developers.
One of the most notable features of visionOS 2 is the ability to transform ordinary photos into spatial images using advanced machine learning technology. This operating system also supports easier spatial video editing and enables sharing SharePlay experiences with “space avatars” in the Photos app.
Apple has collaborated with Blackmagic to create a more integrated editing and production system for immersive video with DaVinci Resolve and Blackmagic hardware. The update also introduces space photos and a new travel mode dedicated to trains.
Furthermore, Apple announced plans to expand the market for Vision Pro, with the glasses becoming available in China, Japan, and Singapore on June 28, followed by Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the UK on July 12.
