Tech mogul Elon Musk has filed a second lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman. Musk, who is a co-founder of OpenAI, has accused the company of violating contracts and US anti-corruption laws. The lawsuit seeks the court’s ruling on whether OpenAI has achieved artificial general intelligence (AGI).
According to the lawsuit, OpenAI allegedly reneged on its commitment to release open-source code for its AI models and instead provided exclusive licensing to Microsoft, which Musk’s legal team claims is fraudulent and in potential violation of anti-corruption laws.
Furthermore, Musk argues that if OpenAI achieves AGI, Microsoft’s licensing rights for OpenAI models may be jeopardized. The lawsuit calls for the court to assess whether OpenAI has indeed reached AGI and, if so, whether the current agreement with Microsoft can be terminated.
This is the second time Elon Musk has taken legal action against OpenAI, following a previous lawsuit in March that also alleged breach of contract. However, Musk withdrew the initial lawsuit in June for undisclosed reasons.
At present, OpenAI has not responded to this new lawsuit.
