Apple has recently rolled out the iOS 17.6.1 update for iPhone and iPad users. This update addresses a bug related to Advanced Data Protection, an optional feature that extends end-to-end encryption to various iCloud services. The bug prevented users from enabling or disabling Enhanced Data Protection. Users who were affected by this bug will be prompted to verify their preferences in Settings after installing the update.

In addition to fixing the Enhanced Data Protection issue, iOS 17.6.1 includes important bug fixes and security improvements. Notably, it introduces a new “Catch Up” feature in the TV app, utilizing machine learning to curate highlight clips for MLS matches.

To update to iOS 17.6.1, users can navigate to Settings > General > Software Update on their iPhone. The build number for this update is 21G93. Furthermore, Apple has also released iOS 16.7.10 for older iPhone models with build number 20H350, bringing bug fixes and other improvements.
