Google’s Android has introduced a new security feature to combat phone theft. The new feature, called ‘Theft Detection Lock,’ utilizes artificial intelligence to detect suspicious movements indicating theft, such as sudden displacement of the device. When such activity is identified, the system automatically locks the device to safeguard user data.
This functionality is set to be accessible on all Android devices running Android 10 and above, with update availability dependent on individual manufacturers.
Additionally, this is part of Google’s enhanced suite of security measures, which includes locking the device after multiple incorrect password attempts and when the device is offline for extended periods. Google also advises users to enable location tracking for the ability to remotely lock or erase data in case of loss or theft.
Through the implementation of the Theft Detection Lock feature, Google aims to provide Android users with a heightened sense of security when using their devices.
