Samsung may soon integrate ChatGPT into its Galaxy AI virtual assistant on mobile devices, according to a report from TechRadar. The company is reportedly in negotiations with OpenAI to bring the popular AI chatbot to its smartphones.
This revelation comes from financial analyst Dan Nystedt, who shared the information on social media platform X. If the negotiations are successful, Samsung users will have the opportunity to utilize ChatGPT directly through their devices.
This potential partnership is notable, as Samsung currently relies on Google Gemini as the backbone of Galaxy AI. Collaborating with OpenAI could significantly enhance Samsung’s capabilities in the competitive AI landscape and present a considerable challenge to Google.
Previously, Apple has also integrated ChatGPT into its iPhone 16 series through Apple Intelligence. This feature is anticipated to launch in December, enabling Siri to handle more complex requests via ChatGPT’s processing power.
Reports suggest that discussions between Samsung and OpenAI have been ongoing since earlier this year, although no official agreement has yet been reached. The integration of ChatGPT could significantly improve Bixby, Samsung’s virtual assistant, making it more intelligent and effective.
Currently, Galaxy AI is utilized across 200 million Samsung devices, and the inclusion of ChatGPT could further enhance user experience and bolster Samsung’s competitiveness in the mobile market.
