Windows 11 is set to enhance its Microsoft Store by introducing a new feature that allows users to update all applications, including those from third-party developers, directly through the Store.
As reported by TechRadar, Microsoft is currently testing this functionality, which aims to streamline the process of managing app updates. Previously, the Microsoft Store only accommodated updates for applications downloaded from Microsoft’s servers, which often left users searching for updates for other applications on their own.
With the upcoming changes, users will have a centralized location to manage and update all installed apps. When users click on ‘Get Update’, they will see a comprehensive list that includes both Microsoft and third-party applications. However, it is important to note that while automatic updates will be available for Microsoft applications, users will still need to update third-party applications manually.
This development is seen as a significant step toward transforming the Microsoft Store into a true app center for Windows 11. By supporting third-party app updates, Microsoft aims to save users time and encourage developers to make their applications available in the Store, ultimately fostering a more seamless and secure experience.
The new feature is currently being rolled out as part of the Windows Insider program and is anticipated to be available to all Windows 11 users in the near future.
