Leak specialist Jon Prosser has just shared some new details about the upcoming iPhone 12 Pro, based on the production verification unit (PVT) he received.
the iPhone 12 Pro will keep the same size for the True Depth sensor used for facial recognition, according to Prosser, so the slot sizes are the same. However, thanks to a slightly larger screen and smaller frame, the display can be smaller. They say Face ID has a noticeable improvement and should work from more angles, even when it’s flat on the table. The report also emphasizes that the sides of the device are flat, even though the glass has a slight curve.
The Prosser source also shared a few screenshots and videos showcasing some of the camera and screen features available in the test samples. Most notably, the display settings still include the option for a high refresh rate, and reportedly about half of the PVT models being tested have a 120 Hz display. Back in May, it was reported that the iPhone 12 Pro would launch with this feature, but subsequent reports have denied this. It seems Apple is struggling to make that happen, and it’s still not clear what the end product will have.
As for the camera features, they include the same LiDAR sensor found on the latest iPad Pro for autofocus and subject detection. There’s also an Enhanced Night Mode that enhances nighttime shooting, new video recording options like 4K at 120 fps and 4K slow motion video at 240 frames per second … The report also states that the camera module is 10% larger in the iPhone 12 Pro, presumably compared to the iPhone 11 Pro.
