After officially stopping Flash support, the parent company actively recommends users to remove.

After 3 years of warning, the end of Adobe Flash has officially happened. Adobe officially stopped supporting Flash as of January 1, and in less than two weeks, Adobe will block all Flash content from working in Flash Player.

Along with that event, Adobe recommends that users uninstall it from their computers immediately. It is recommended that all users immediately uninstall Flash Player to help protect their systems, in particular Adobe does not intend to release Flash Player updates or security patches anymore. Some users may continue to see a prompt from Adobe to uninstall Flash Player from their system.

Especially with Mac systems, you don’t have to simply remove Adobe Flash from the Preferences page in System Preferences. Here’s what to do to completely uninstall it from your Mac.

Deauthorize Flash on Mac

  • Access System Preferences> Flash Player.
  • In the top right, click the Advanced tab.
  • Finally, choose Deauthorize This Computer.

Flash removal completely

  • Open a Finder window and select Applications> Utilities.
  • Open Adobe Flash Player Install Manager> click Uninstall.
  • You will receive a confirmation when it is successfully removed
  • You can use a third-party app like Clean My Mac or Sensei to search for and delete any irrelevant Flash files.
