Engineered Arts company in the UK has built a humanoid robot with very vivid expressions, named Ameca.
In a short video posted on YouTube, the robot Ameca shows many different emotions on its face, even appearing surprised and confused when looking at its arm.
However, Ameca does not have the ability to walk like other humanoid robots. Engineered Arts company wants to create realistic faces and expressions for robots instead of letting them perform dances and acrobatics, but with the modular architecture available on robots, Engineered Arts is complete. could grant Ameca the ability to walk again at any time.
Robot Ameca uses the operating system Tritium developed by Engineered Arts. Other companies can also use the operating system to test their technology own. On its own website, Engineered Arts introduces the Ameca rental service in exhibitions or discussions on television.
The video of Ameca shared on Twitter has received more than 200,000 likes, even many people suspect this is a graphics product of a computer because the robot’s expression is too smooth and vivid.
Others found Ameca’s terrifying resemblance to the killer robot VIKI in the movie I, Robot (2014). However, the company Engineered Arts said that Ameca has not yet been integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) at the moment.
