Mojang Studios says that NFT integration with Minecraft will not be supported or allowed.

According to The Verge, Mojang Studios, the developer of Minecraft, is taking a strong stance against the NFT. In a blog post titled “Minecraft and NFTs,” the Microsoft-owned studio wrote that “integrating NFT with Minecraft is generally not something we would support or allow.”

“In order to ensure a Minecraft safe and inclusive experience blockchain technologies are not allowed to be integrated inside our client and server applications, nor are in-game content used. Minecraft as worlds, skins, items or mods using blockchain technology, aims to create scarce and valuable digital assets,” said Mojang.

According to the studio, several companies have implemented NFTs associated with world files and outfit packs in Minecraft. Mojang argues that these encourage scarcity as well as profiteering and go against Minecraft.

Valve has also taken a hard stance against blockchain games and NFTs on Steam, and much of the gaming community has explicitly rejected NFT, with Ubisoft having stopped making NFTs for Ghost Recon Breakpoint just a few days. months after the launch of this initiative.

Last year, only Epic Games announced that it would be “opening” for blockchain games on the Epic Games Store, and the first blockchain game was available at the store in June.

While Mojang is not completely shutting down blockchain incorporation in the future, the developer concludes there are no plans to implement blockchain technology into Minecraft at this time.
