Apple has just confirmed that its iPhone 12 repair program for speaker audio problems is now extended, meaning users with damaged speakers will get a free replacement.

According to TechTimes, Apple launched a speaker repair program for iPhone 12 and 12 Pro users with audio problems starting in August 2021. The repair program deals with annoying issues that cause the speakerphone of some iPhone 12 to have no sound during phone calls.

In return, Apple announced that it will replace the speaker module of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro at no cost to the user. The company claims to have identified a very small percentage of iPhone 12 and 12 Pro devices that may experience audio problems due to a component on the receiver module that may be faulty.

Apple also noted the speaker issue affects devices manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021. So, if your iPhone 12 has a receiver problem while on a phone call, you’re eligible for a free repair at Apple and Apple’s authorized service providers. However, the repair program does not apply to other iPhone 12 devices, such as the iPhone 12 Pro Max and 12 mini.

Initially, Apple said the repair program would last 2 years after the said device went on sale, but the company has now extended the repair service program to two iPhone 12 models, specifically adding a year worldwide.

Apple recommends that users make a backup of their files to iCloud before taking their smartphone in for repair because they may lose data after being fixed.
