A launcher copying iOS is a hit on Android

A popular launcher on the Google Play Store that seeks to recreate the iOS 16 experience on Android smartphones has surpassed 50 million downloads.

What is an Android Launcher? It is a program that allows the user to customize his smartphone as he wishes. This makes it possible to create an alternative to the original design offered by the manufacturer of the device. Currently, there are dozens of launchers that promise to recreate the iOS experience on Android.

For some time now, a particular launcher has been on the rise with millions of downloads. This launcher is none other than a variation of the design of iOS 16.

The copied iOS launcher, named “Launcher iOS 16″, recreates the iOS home screen, dock, Force Touch menus on apps, “jiggle” mode, app library, iOS-style widgets, etc The launcher also replaces app icons with iOS icons, like Messages, Notes, Camera, and even the Play Store has Apple’s App Store icon.

This launcher is not new, as it has been around for over 3 years. Starting with iOS 13 and for each subsequent major release of iOS, the app has been updated to reflect changes in iOS.

A buzz on social networks

The app, obviously well-known to the Android community, gained additional exposure on Twitter earlier this week. iOS 16’s biggest change, the lock screen redesign, made headlines after Apple’s WWDC in June. The wide coverage of the new lock screen may have prompted users to download the launcher to try Apple’s latest design.

Unfortunately, this launcher does not feature the iOS 16 lock screen. At least for now
