AI creates malware to attack users

Hackers are utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to develop malware and launch attacks. Security researchers from HP Wolf Security have uncovered evidence that hackers employ generative AI, such as ChatGPT, to create malware. This marks a concerning development, indicating that hackers leverage advanced technology to execute attacks.

A specific attack campaign targeting the French-speaking community has been identified, utilizing VBScript and JavaScript malware that was believed to have been generated by Gen AI. This malware is capable of capturing the victim’s screen and keystrokes, enabling the theft of sensitive information.

Security experts caution that the use of Gen AI is lowering the barriers to cybercrime. Even individuals lacking programming skills can use this tool to create malicious code and carry out sophisticated attacks.

The utilization of AI by hackers to create malware represents a new and escalating threat. Users are advised to heighten their vigilance, exclusively download applications from reputable sources, and employ trusted security software to safeguard themselves.
