With the Apple Watch, Apple wants to push the “sporty” cursor further and offer default design for apps has been revised thanks to watchOS 10.

Apple didn’t unveil a new Apple Watch on Monday night, but the upcoming update to the apple-tipped smartwatch promises to shake up the user experience and even the system software design. With watchOS 10, there is also a rapprochement between the Watch, the iPad and the iPhone.

Since widgets are now integrated into the Apple Watch. When you’re on the lock screen, you just have to scroll down to see new widgets show. Health, stopwatch, or reminders, these widgets will list everything you need to know about your day. It will be possible to add or remove some, and others will be added throughout the day, such as a new timer launched.

The apps benefit from a small visual overhaul. More intuitive, most of the information is offered. A template will be made available to developers so that they can easily adapt their apps to this new design.

Focus on cycling and hiking

With watchOS 10, the focus is on new sports and health-related features. As a matter of sport, cyclists will be delighted to learn that new data will be available on the Watch, such as the power of pedaling and an area indicating where you are and whether you can push, in order to improve your cycling performance.

Finally, if you launch a cycling program on your Watch, the iPhone will display a Live Activity featuring all the news. By clicking on it, you will even be able to interrupt the exercise. Golfers will be able to experience the angle of rotation of their wrists, while tennis players will also be highlighted with more data

On the hiking side, the Apple Watch hiking compass will now be in 3D to know the altitude of this or that important point when walking. A new typographic map will also be part of the game, displaying in real time the unevennesses.

On the health side, Apple focuses on two new aspects of your well-being: your mental health and your visual health. The first, which “impacts all of us” according to Apple, will require intervention on your part. At several times of the day, you can encode your mind and find, at the end of the day, a glimpse of the evolution of it over the day.

Apple finally considers your visual health to be important, and gives figures to support its interest in doing so. 30% of people are now affected by myopia, and it is estimated that 50% of people are involved in this phenomenon in 2050. Whether it’s on iPad or iPhone, you’ll get a notification when you’re too close to the screen. And, at many times of the day, you’ll receive a notification about your Watch prompting you to go out to enjoy the external brightness
