Amazon Bedrock helps expand safe generative AI applications

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has recently announced new features for Amazon Bedrock, their cloud service for developing artificial intelligence (AI) applications and experiences. The new features have been designed to offer their customers the easiest, fastest, and most secure way to develop innovative AI applications.

Amazon Bedrock has already become the foundation for the generative AI strategy of tens of thousands of customers, as it provides access to leading platform models (FMs) from AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, Mistral AI, Stability AI, and Amazon. The new features announced will enable customers to run their own fully managed models on Amazon Bedrock, simplifying deployment of the best model for their use case with ease of adoption while providing more model choices.

One of the new features is the Amazon Bedrock Custom Model Import, which allows organizations to import and access their custom models as a fully managed application programming interface (API) within Amazon Bedrock. This feature allows customers to take the models they customize on Amazon SageMaker or other tools and easily add them to Amazon Bedrock with just a few clicks.

The new features also offer a seamless authentication process, allowing customers to access their models easily, just like any other model on Amazon Bedrock. This feature provides customers with a range of benefits, including seamless scalability and security, robust protection of applications, adherence to responsible AI principles, and the ability to extend the model knowledge base using RAG techniques.

These new features make it easy for organizations to choose their combination of Amazon Bedrock models and custom models through a single API. Currently, Amazon Bedrock Custom Model Import is available in preview and supports the three most popular open model architectures, Flan-T5, Llama, and Mistral, with further development expected in the future.

According to Dr. Swami Sivasubramanian, Vice President of AI and Data at AWS, “Amazon Bedrock is growing rapidly, as tens of thousands of organizations of all sizes and in every industry are choosing this service for their work. Customers are excited about Amazon Bedrock because it offers enterprise-grade security and privacy protection, the ability to choose from a variety of leading platform models, and the easiest way to build AI applications”.
