At the recent Google I/O event, it was announced that Android users will soon have the option to request someone else to pay for app purchases or in-app features when making a purchase, users will now see a “Choose payment method” button, which will include a new option to “Ask someone else to pay.”
This feature will allow users to generate a payment link that can be sent to family and friends via text message or email. Recipients will have the option to accept or decline the payment request, and the link will expire after 24 hours The receiving party will be informed of the full name and cost of the app or feature being requested, and they will have 48 hours to request a refund if needed.
This new feature is expected to roll out to Android users in India first and may expand to other markets based on feedback. Importantly, application developers will not need to make any changes to their software or payment options, as Google will handle the implementation of this new feature.
