Apple and Samsung share the Top 10 best-selling smartphones in the world

4 of the 10 best-selling smartphones in the world belong to Apple, the remaining 6 models are branded Samsung.

Nokia, Motorola, and BlackBerry are names that have long dominated the phone rankings with the highest sales globally, but this position no longer belongs to them for many years. Counterpoint Research’s latest market report shows that the Top 10 best-selling smartphones in the world today do not have the names of Xiaomi, Huawei, Nokia, Motorola, BlackBerry, or “rising stars” like Oppo, Vivo, or Realme.

The list currently has only two names left: Apple and Samsung, sharing the 10 smartphones with the best consumption in the second quarter of 2023. Notably, the top 4 positions all belong to Apple and there is no change compared to the first quarter. Through the first 6 months of 2023, smartphone models holding positions 1 to 4 in the Top 10 best-selling smartphones in the world are still iPhone 14, 14 Pro Max, 14 Pro, and iPhone 13

Models including Samsung Galaxy A14, A54, A14 5G, S23 Ultra, A04e, and A34 ranked in the remaining 6 rankings. All of these smartphones changed their rankings compared to the previous quarter, only the A54 and A34 had a jump when entering the Top 10 from a position outside the Top 100 in the first quarter. In contrast, the Galaxy S23 Ultra came to market in February 2023, quickly ranked 6th but fell to 8th at the end of the 3 months of mid-year business. In addition, there are no Galaxy S models in the Top 10.

The fact that Apple and Samsung phones make up the majority of the world’s best-selling list is not surprising, but this is considered the first time that there has been a business quarter in which Apple held the top 4 positions, with the next 6 consecutive positions belonging to Apple. about Samsung and there is no appearance of any cheap models from other brands.

During the same period last year, the popular smartphone model Samsung Galaxy A13 ranked right behind the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro Max, while the Redmi Note 11 LTE held the 10th position. A year before that, Redmi had 2 models on this list, Samsung is 1, but the Apple brand appears 7 times in different positions
