For some time now, reports indicated that at Apple, the company had contacted Hyundai, then its subsidiary Kia Motors, to discuss a possible partnership in Apple’s auto development. There is news that the American company will soon sign a contract with Kia worth $ 3.6 billion. The latter’s parent company, however, denied the rumors.
According to a Bloomberg report that has access to the document, Hyundai has actually stated in the document governing its activities that there are no talks with Apple regarding the development of an autonomous electric car. The latter also denied that Kia Motors is negotiating with companies at Apple. Statements that may be related to noise that has been going on for several days.
Bloomberg also said that Apple has actually curtailed its talks with Hyundai and Kia after Hyundai’s statements. A month ago, the South Korean car manufacturer had indeed initially indicated that it was in negotiations with Apple, before retracting and specifying that it had “discussed with several companies the development of autonomous electric cars”, and not with Apple directly.
