Apple brings the ability to lock each app on the iPhone

Apple recently announced some exciting features coming to iOS 18 at the WWDC 2024 developers conference, and one of the highlights is the new ability to lock individual applications on the iPhone. This feature will provide users with enhanced security and privacy by allowing them to lock both built-in and third-party apps with Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode.

Once locked, the apps will be hidden from view and can only be accessed after proper authentication. Additionally, iOS 18 ensures that information from these locked apps will not appear in search results or notifications. This feature provides iPhone users with a convenient and straightforward way to secure sensitive apps without the need for workarounds like Screen Time restrictions.

It’s important to note that while Android users have had a similar app-locking feature for some time, iPhone users will now be able to enjoy this enhanced level of security and privacy. The iOS 18 update will be available to a wide range of iPhone models, including the iPhone XR, Xs, Xs Max, and later, once it is officially released in the fall.
