Apple claims the MacBook Air M3 is more powerful than the Copilot+ PC with the fastest chip

Apple recently updated its marketing materials to highlight that its 15-inch MacBook Air M3 is reportedly up to 40% faster than a Copilot+ PC equipped with Snapdragon X Elite chip. Upon closer examination, it becomes apparent that the comparison was made with the previous generation M-series chip.

As reported by 9to5Mac, Apple’s marketing materials compare the 15-inch MacBook Air M3 with a Surface Laptop 7 equipped with a Snapdragon X Elite chip, accompanied by 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. It’s worth noting that while Apple has introduced the M4 chip, it’s currently exclusive to the iPad Pro and is anticipated to be available on the MacBook Pro later this year.

In regards to the 15-inch MacBook Air M3, the product shares a similar configuration to the Surface Laptop 7, featuring an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. The Speedometer 3.0 performance test conducted on Safari 17.5 with macOS Sonoma showcases a 40% difference between the M3 and the Snapdragon X Elite. Apple also claims that its System on a Chip (SoC) is up to 25% faster for web browsing, with the test being carried out on a Surface Laptop 7 using Chrome 128.0.6613.113 and running Windows 11 Home, while connected to a WPA2 Wi-Fi network.
