Apple hires head of Meta .’s AR public relations team

Market analyst Mark Gurman said in Power On that Apple has hired the head of Meta’s AR (augmented reality) public relations team, Andrea Schubert.

According to Engadget , Gurman said that Meta along with Oculus are leading the way in the AR headset market, so hiring Schubert back will make sense for Apple as it prepares to launch its own AR device.

Schubert’s personal LinkedIn profile states that she has been the communications director at Meta’s Reality Labs and the chief executive officer of Oculus since March 2016. Before that, she was the public relations director of OutCast, which considered Facebook and Oculus as customers.

There have been many rumors before that Apple is developing an AR headset with conflicting content, with a source on Engadget predicting the headset may depend on another device such as an iPhone or Mac computer. . While a source on The Information says it will be a standalone device with dual 8K displays that could cost upwards of $3,000. Meanwhile, leak expert Gurman pointed out that the headset will support high-quality VR (virtual reality) gaming, and thinks that Apple will only release AR glasses for many more years.

Even so, most sources agree that Apple will launch its first AR headset in 2022 or 2023. If that’s the case, Apple will need to put together an impressive information campaign to help everyone who understands what it is and how it will work.
