A new leak says Apple will make the iPhone 16 Pro models slightly larger than their predecessors in order to make space for the periscope lens.

According to AppleInsider, the iPhone 16 Pro models that Apple launches next year have been rumored to come with a periscope lens in both variants, while this has only happened with the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year. For the camera system to fit, Apple needed to make more space for the iPhone 16 Pro, and that’s why the company had to increase the size of the device

In a recent tweet posted on Twitter, leaked source @Uredditor said Apple will increase the display size of the two Pro models in the iPhone 16 series. Both models are “planned to feature a new periscope lens, unlike the iPhone 15 series which is limited to the Pro Max model only,” the tweet states. The source added that the iPhone 16 Pro will have a 6.3-inch screen, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch screen. However, the actual display area is slightly smaller because the OLED screen itself is curved at the edges.

The tweet echoes previous statements by analysts Ming-chi Kuo and Ross Young when both said Apple will offer larger screens on the iPhone 16 Pro models. Expert Ross Young said on May 9 that they will have rounded sizes of 6.2 inches and 6.8 inches, respectively.

The additional screen size on the iPhone 16 Pro models is intended to create space for the camera with a periscope lens, where the lens and prism system can increase the optical zoom of the smartphone without greatly affecting the thickness
