Apple may not create an AI chatbot as rumored

Apple has decided to forego the development of its chatbot and instead collaborate with OpenAI, according to recent reports from Bloomberg. The company had been rumored to be working on a chatbot, “Apple GPT,” but it seems that the project did not meet expectations.

As a result, Apple has opted to partner with OpenAI and integrate similar features into Siri and its iOS virtual assistants. This move is seen as a strategic decision to quickly leverage advanced AI technology without investing significant time and resources in developing their competing product.

While details of the collaboration are not yet known, it is anticipated that Siri will be enhanced with ChatGPT features, making the virtual assistant smarter and more capable. Furthermore, iOS 18 may also see new features based on OpenAI’s AI technology. Apple is expected to provide official details about this collaboration at the upcoming WWDC 2024 event.
