Apple may soon announce a new subscription service

It’s no secret that the Cupertino-based company now relies on subscription services to diversify its revenue streams. While some look pretty good (Apple Music, Apple Arcade), not all of them work, but that won’t stop Apple from expanding its offerings. According to a new report, American companies could issue new offers soon. It will be dedicated to podcasts.

Apple already offers several podcast shows through Apple Music today. These include the program For All Mankind, which accompanies the eponymous Apple TV + series, or the series True Crime The Line, which also accompanies a series; The Live, expected later this year on the streaming platform headed. These and other original Apple podcasts are available, but that could change.

The American company could strengthen its podcast offering and offer a Premium package to fans of this type of content. In recent years, podcasts have grown in popularity tremendously, so their numbers have exploded. Spotify has invested a lot of money to produce new podcasts or to broadcast some exclusive shows. So it makes sense that Apple is paying close attention to it. The apple company had been working on it for a while now. At the end of 2019, Apple hired several key podcast managers from National Geographic and National Public Radio to strengthen its own podcast offering, but also to improve the interface of its app.

Apple could announce the launch of its new offer very soon. Vox Media reporter Peter Kafka says Apple’s first keynote of the year may be the timing of the US firm’s announcement. The visual overhaul of the Podcast app seen in the iOS 14.5 beta is certainly a step in this direction.

It remains to be seen whether the Premium Podcast subscription will be standalone or a paid option from Apple Music. In any case, we should be fixed on whether or not this offer will be launched during the keynote on April 20.
