Apple officially released iOS 17.2

The iOS 17.2 update is now officially available to users of iPhone Xs and later models, bringing many interesting additions such as a new Diary app and spatial video recording options.

the Verge. First announced at WWDC 2023 in June, Diary is a health and fitness-focused app that helps users reflect on the big and small moments in their lives, However, they have to wait until iOS 17.2 to experience this feature.

Early reviews with Logs during the iOS 17.2 beta show that its biggest strength is its ability to recognize “Moments” based on users’ phone data, including the locations they’ve visited. visits, photos they took, or exercises they did. Diary can then provide writing suggestions based on these Moments.

iOS 17.2 also brings support for spatial video recording – a feature announced with the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max in September. This feature works by recording footage from the camera main and ultra-wide cameras of the phone to create 3D videos. For now, users may have trouble finding much to do with this footage, but it’s designed for playback on the Vision Pro mixed reality headset that Apple plans to release early next year.

Other features coming to iOS 17.2 include setting the iPhone 15 Pro’s Action button to translate phrases, a new Weather widget, and features for the Messages app like a handy button to quickly jump to messages unread first in chat. The update also adds Qi2 charging support to iPhone 13 and 14, allowing them to charge faster wirelessly with a Qi2 charger at 15W without the need for a more expensive MagSafe-branded charger.

To download and install iOS 17.2, compatible iPhone users can go to the Settings app > General > Software Update and follow the instructions to install it manually.
