Apple Pay users have money deducted randomly

It has been reported that Apple Pay users in Hungary have experienced unexpected deductions from their linked bank accounts. Multiple users have reported large amounts of money being withdrawn from their accounts without their authorization or knowledge. Some users have even experienced multiple unauthorized transactions within a short time frame.

Local banks, such as Raiffeisen and MHB Bank, have confirmed that the issue is related to technical errors on the Apple devices linked to the payment service. They are currently working to resolve the issue in collaboration with Apple, and are taking necessary actions to address the problem. OTP Bank Hungary has also confirmed instances of significant and unjustified debits across multiple banks, with one user experiencing nearly 74 transactions totaling close to $1,500.

According to technical teams investigating the issue, many of the unauthorized transactions appear to be linked to previous shopping transactions, such as canceled subscription fees that continue to be deducted. Affected users are advised to stay informed as the banks and Apple work to rectify the situation.
