Apple refreshes the 27-inch iMac with the 10th generation Intel Core i9 CPU

After Apple updated the iMac with an Intel Core processor from the 9th generator last year, Apple announced an upgrade to the 27-inch iMac. However, users should not expect significant changes in product design.

According to Neowin, the new 27-inch iMac has a 10th generation Intel Core processor, a new graphics processor option, a better webcam, nanotextural glass options similar to the XDR Pro display, and increased memory. Other.

The most important upgrade, in particular, is offering a configuration option for the Core i9 Comet Lake 10-core (10th generation) in addition to the lower 6-core and 8-core options. The company states that upgrading 10-core processors offer up to 65% faster performance. Regarding the graphics processor, this new device has a Radeon Pro 5700XT graphics card with 16GB VRAM, which promises graphics performance up to 55% faster.

Other upgrades on the iMac include the standard SSD across the entire lineup. Both the 27-inch and 21.5-inch iMac offer a choice of standard 256GB SSD. The 27-inch version can provide up to 8 TB SSD, while the smaller version still stops at 1 TB Fusion Drive.

Another improvement to the 27-inch iMac is the addition of True Tone to the Retina display along with the nano texture option to reduce reflections and improve readability. Earlier, XDR Pro Display was launched with nano-textured display.

The webcam is also being upgraded on the iMac with 1,080p support for improved video calls. The company also added an Apple T2 custom security chip to the iMac. This chip improves FaceTime image quality by controlling exposure and face detection. The device also features a new array of studio-quality microphones and an improved speaker with higher fidelity. Finally, Apple announced it would make the standard 10-core Intel Xeon CPU on the iMac Pro.
