Apple released Safari 14 for macOS Catalina

Before macOS Big Sur was officially launched, Apple suddenly released the latest versions of Safari for macOS Catalina and High Sierra.

According to TheVerge, Safari 14 improves tabs in the browser, adds privacy reporting features, and provides customization options for the start page. You can go to System Preferences and choose Software Update to download Safari 14.

One of the key improvements on the new version of Safari is in how tags are managed. They have been redesigned to save space, show the website’s icon by default, and show a preview of each card when you hover. You can customize the opening page with your own backgrounds and links. The privacy report will let you know which trackers are being blocked by your browser. Of course, Safari 14 has also removed support for Adobe Flash.

However, 9to5Mac notes there are a few more new features that are only available when macOS Big Sur is installed, including support for 4K HDR video and built-in translation.

Apple just released a bunch of system updates like iOS 14 for iPhone, iPadOS 14 for iPad, tvOS 14 for Apple TV, and watchOS 7 for Apple Watch. MacOS users seem to have to wait a little longer for Big Sur’s turn, but at least they were able to download Safari 14.
