Apple releases iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 public beta

After releasing several builds of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 beta to developers, Apple has begun offering a public beta for more users to experience.

According to Howtogeek, while the developer betas of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 are primarily intended for developers to test apps and games, the public beta marks the start of a more stable experience aimed at the public before the official version is released in the fall. No developer account or workaround is required, users can simply sign up for and download the iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 public betas by visiting the Apple Beta Software Program portal.

For iOS 16, the operating system will bring iPhones a new, more customizable lock screen, improvements to Focus and Messages modes, multi-stop trips in Apple Maps, and message recall. Messages… Meanwhile, iPadOS 16 offers most of the same improvements but adds a Stage Manager for better multitasking support (iPads with M1 chip only), an improved Weather app., and external display support (iPad with M1 chip only)…

Like all pre-release software, users are advised not to install the public beta versions of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 on their primary device. While Apple has fixed some bugs that occurred during the developer beta release, it’s likely that some issues still exist. If you don’t have a spare iPhone or iPad, you should wait for the final stable version to be released this fall. It is known that iOS 16 is only compatible with iPhone 8 and later models.
