Apple suddenly announced the iPad mini 7 with an A17 Pro chip

Apple has announced the release of the iPad mini 7, marking its first update since the iPad mini 6 was launched in 2021. The new model is now available for pre-order, starting at $499 for the Wi-Fi version with 128 GB of internal storage. Customers can expect the product to be officially available starting October 23.

The iPad mini 7 features significant performance enhancements, including an A17 Pro chip that offers a 30% increase in CPU speed, a 25% increase in GPU performance, and double the speed of the Neural Engine compared to its predecessor. A key addition is the support for the Apple Pencil Pro, which opens new possibilities for artists and creative users.

Apple has also upgraded the standard internal memory to 128 GB, double that of the previous version. Connectivity options have improved with the inclusion of Wi-Fi 6E and a USB-C port, enhancing both connection and data transfer speeds. The introduction of hardware-based ray tracing acceleration aims to improve image quality for high-end gaming, with a focus on enhancing AI capabilities.

In terms of design, the iPad mini 7 introduces new color options—purple and blue. However, these colors offer a more subdued aesthetic compared to other Apple products.

The enhancements in the iPad mini 7 are expected to provide a better user experience, particularly for those who prioritize compactness and portability. Additionally, Apple recently refreshed its other iPad models, including the iPad Air with an M4 chip and a price reduction for the standard iPad model to $349.
