Call of Duty launches new ‘trick’ that makes cheaters ‘cry’

Call of Duty will automatically close the game if it detects a player using the mouse-keyboard and activating unauthorized features.

According to IGN, there continues to be more bad news for Call of Duty gamers who cheat, as Activision has just upgraded the Ricochet anti-cheat system with the ability to automatically close the game if it detects a player activating the aim assist feature. (aim assist) while using the mouse and keyboard.

versions This announcement was made on X, applicable to Modern Warfare 3, Modern Warfare 2, and Warzone on PC.

“Our defense system will now target gamers who use mouse-keyboard aiming assist activation tools,” Activision stated. “Call of Duty will close itself if detected. Repeated behavior may result in more severe account penalties.”

Aim assist has long been a controversial topic in the shooter community. This feature helps console players aim more easily, automatically moving the crosshair to follow the enemy. However, this feature is not intended for gamers who control with a mouse and keyboard, as they already have the inherent speed and accuracy advantage of these devices.

For years, Call of Duty gamers have been using unauthorized software and hardware like XIM and Cronus Zen to enable aim assist and reduce mouse-keyboard lag. Last year, Activision announced that Ricochet would detect these behaviors and block the accounts of cheaters.

Activision’s latest move is said to be aimed at reWASD, a popular software used to reassign function buttons on keyboards, mice, and controllers. reWASD can create a virtual controller, thereby “tricking” the game into activating aim assist for the mouse-keyboard user.

Activision’s warning was issued just before the Season 1 Reloaded update for Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 launched. This can be seen as a strong step by Activision in the fight against cheating, to ensure a fair playing environment for all Call of Duty gamers.
