Graphic design platform Canva has just announced a new series of AI (artificial intelligence) tools, catching up with the artificial intelligence trend of Microsoft and Google and challenging rival Adobe.
For amateur graphic design users, Canva is no stranger to gradually becoming an effective tool for creating quality electronic publications. Recently, the web design platform introduced a large set of AI-based features focused on optimizing the content creation process.
Announced at the Canva Create: Brand New Era event, most of the new features will make creating content (social media posts, presentations, banner ads, etc.) easier for those who don’t. design experience. AI Canva together with users will be able to solve the pressing design problem that, with its rich feature count and ease of use, has truly challenged the competition Adobe
Here are the key AI features by The Verge: compiled
Text to Image improved
“Text to Image” was launched by the company in November 2022, which works similarly to Midjourney. Users can create images on Canva thanks to AI from just short descriptions, especially without paying fees like Midjourney. Since launch, this Canva feature has generated 60 million images, and with the latest update, the company claims to have increased the resolution of the images 16 times and reduced the time by 68%. Create photos and add more graphic styles .
Canva .’s “Magic” AI Toolkit
The biggest change in Canva is the AI-powered “Magic” toolkit. “Magic Design” allows users to upload photos and create “Magic Replace” that can replace an asset across all designs with a single click if the user only needs to update one graphic object. “Magic Eraser” can erase anything the user does not want in the image, from the object in the background to the unnecessary objects that mess up the image. In particular, “Magic Edit” allows users to swap one object with another completely using AI as shown below:
Featured is “Magic Write”, the AI-powered copywriting assistant from Canva. Users can use this tool in presentations, social networks, and websites by briefly entering the content to be advertised. This feature is also gradually expanding support to more than 18 different languages. Then, if the user does not have enough time to assemble the content into a presentation, the AI by “Magic Presentation” will automatically convert.
Translate and Beat Sync combines multiple AI models
“Translate” will automatically translate any text in the design into more than 100 different languages. Canva’s “Beat Sync” syncs the video footage to match the beat of the music, without the user having to re-edit. Canva says the company has used a combination of different AI models as the foundation for these two features in addition to building its own AI systems.
Brand Hub
The company also said that large organizations such as FedEx, Starbucks, and Zoom have adopted Canva’s brand management platform in the past to enhance the need for visual identity at scale. This has created the impetus for the “Brand Hub” to be born, equipped with AI tools to assist users in maintaining a consistent corporate identity. Users can now easily create Brand Kits with company-specific designs such as logos, fonts, colors, and design codes. Brand Folders groups content together for events, campaigns, and projects by templates, and allow users to create multiple re-branded templates that can be reused for repetitive tasks like email design.
This feature is similar to Google Drive, however, Canva is updating with some additional tricks to help set itself apart from other cloud storage solutions. For example, admins can set certain permissions to ensure any design in Canva stays branded, limits fonts and colors, and prevents multiple discrete drafts from being created by members.
Currently, there are many other web-based design services that offer a similar experience (including the recently launched Adobe Express), but Canva is still the “giant” of the industry. Given its user-friendliness and ease of use, the company claims to have more than 110 million monthly users – an increase of 30 million since launching Visual Worksuite in September 2022
