CD Projekt victim of a major cyberattack, Cyberpunk 2077 source code stolen

CD Projekt studio has quite recently been the casualty of a significant cyberattack. Numerous private information was taken, including source codes of internal documents.

Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 source code stolen

CD Projekt declared the news through a public statement on Twitter. As per the studio, the full source codes for Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the Gwent card game, and another version of The Witcher 3 have been taken. It could likely be the future version of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Clearly, the purpose of the move is to discolor the picture of CD Projekt.

In addition, hackers have also stolen numerous internal company documents. Presumably, it was documents “relating to accounting, administration, human resources and investor relations” that were stolen, in addition to the source elbows.

according to papergeek.fr, The problem is, the hackers demanded a ransom from the studio. If no agreement is reached within two days, the files, source codes, and documents will be distributed online, before being sent to the specialized press. “We will not give in to demands or negotiate with the actor, knowing that this could eventually lead to the release of the compromised data,” CD Projekt said in its statement. With the studio unwilling to give in, could it be that a future scandal erupts once this data is disclosed? So we just have to wait. It should also be noted that the personal data of players has not (a priori) been compromised.

Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 is breaking all sales records. And this, despite patch 1.1, which unfortunately added a bug preventing the game from being completed.
