OpenAI has officially launched a Windows application for its popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT. After a lengthy wait, Windows users can now interact with ChatGPT through a dedicated app rather than relying on a web browser.
Currently, access to the ChatGPT application is limited to paid users, which includes those subscribed to ChatGPT Plus, as well as Enterprise, Team, and Edu packages. Free users will need to wait longer for access.
It’s important to note that this application does not fully support all features available in web and mobile versions. For instance, Advanced Voice Mode is not yet included. Additionally, users may encounter restrictions when trying to access the application on work computers due to company IT policies.
The ChatGPT for Windows app does offer advantages like quick access to AI chats, customizable settings, and the ability to upload files directly. Additionally, users can utilize the keyboard shortcut ‘Alt + Space’ for quicker application access compared to using a browser.
Eligible users can download the ChatGPT for Windows app from the Microsoft Store. OpenAI warns against downloading from unofficial sources for security reasons.
the release of the ChatGPT application for Windows marks a positive development for users of this widely used operating system. It suggests that OpenAI plans to expand access and enhance features in the future.
