Chrome is about to activate the Gemini AI assistant from the address bar

Google is reportedly testing a new feature that integrates its AI assistant Gemini directly into the address bar of the Chrome browser. This new development will allow users to access and interact with the chatbot without having to navigate to a separate website.

According to TechRadar, users can start chatting with Gemini by typing “@gemini” into the address bar and pressing Enter. This feature is currently being tested in the developer version of Chrome Canary and is expected to be available to all users soon.

This move is a significant step in Google’s efforts to make AI more accessible to users. The latest AI assistant was integrated into Chrome when it was released last February, and it’s capable of assisting users with a range of tasks such as answering questions, writing creative text, translating, and summarizing information.

If you’re interested in trying out the new AI assistant quick access feature on Chrome Canary, you can do so by entering chrome://flags in the address bar and pressing Enter. Look for the ‘Expansion pack page for the site’ option and enable it. Finally, restart your browser to apply the changes.
