Concerned about child safety, Sony doesn’t want ‘Roblox’ coming to PlayStation

The PlayStation 5 version of the virtual universe game Roblox has yet to become a reality.

According to Engadget, a recently discovered Microsoft and FTC document from 2022 revealed that Sony had previously blocked Roblox from the PlayStation because the company was concerned that children would be exposed to inappropriate content.

However, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan at the time said that the company’s stance on the matter was softening, leaving the door open to Roblox’s PlayStation platform

More specifically, Ryan explained to investors early last year about seeing Roblox, he said: “Due to the large number of young users playing PlayStation, we were cautious in opening up. door to this class of users’ access to inappropriate content. However, over the past few years, we have reviewed those policies and relaxed a bit about this. We have been conservative for too long and Currently interacting with people at Roblox. Although this suggestion by Ryan has been around for more than a year, Roblox has not been available on PlayStation. Nintendo. did not comment on why Roblox is not available on Switch, but the game maker has also made mistakes in the past about censoring content that is not suitable for children
