They call the users and offer a free gift under the company’s promotional offer. A similar case has been recorded recently.
A Mumbai student has reported such a fraud case.This person told the police that in February He had a call. The caller has described himself as the executive of an online shopping company based in Delhi. He told him that the company is expanding its business and offering free gifts to a few selected customers. In this offer, users would have to buy a product of minimum 500 rupees from that website, after which they would be eligible for free laptops or LED TVs. The person bought a bed sheet from the website and he was told that he would be given a laptop of Rs 80,000 as a gift.
After this, the person was asked to give 12,000 GST payouts and Rs 27,000 in insurance. At the same time, it was assured that these payments would be refunded. After all, these laptops did not receive the receipt. After this, the person filed a report in the police. When the police investigated, they came to know that this gang had duped about 100 people in this way.
