EA launches a PC app to replace Origin

The EA desktop app is available for download and is a complete replacement for Origin.

According to Engadget, it’s been two years since EA announced its plans to replace the Origin PC client, and now it’s starting to roll out the new app for Windows users. The game publisher claims that the EA app is the fastest and lightest PC app to date.

EA promises a new design with more straightforward navigation. The app also improves social features, allowing EA accounts to be connected to other platforms like Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation – this could be useful for cross-player games like Apex Legends and FIFA 23. Also, each player will have a custom EA ID that their friends can easily identify.

EA says it will soon invite Origin users to switch to the new app. All their content, like games, saved data, and friend lists, will also be migrated to the new platform.

The new app will only be available on Windows PCs. macOS users will continue to use the Origin for Mac app for a while. But EA notes that the company will have more to share about the platform in the coming months.
